Retreat Information - April 20 & 21, 2012

It's getting close to retreat time.  We will keep this blog updated with any information that you might need for the event.  We hope that you will mark your calendars with the dates.  It is such a wonderful opportunity to get to know the sisters in the ward on a deeper level.

The retreat will be held on Friday & Saturday, April 20 & 21, 2012.

The place that we are staying is in Glenwood and we will have maps available for handout at church.

We will be meeting at the New Brighton Community Centre, and will have two departure times:

1 p.m. - This departure is for those who are wanting to be able to attend a temple session prior to the retreat.  The session time will be at 4:30 - so we will need to be at the temple for 4:15.

6:30 p.m. is the later departure time - and we will be heading directly to the cabin.

****if you can't make either of these times, you are more than welcome to come down directly at any point.  There will be sign up sheets on facebook and at church, if you are able to give anyone else a ride down in your vehicle.

Sleeping bag
Pillow
Toiletries
Please bring a water bottle with name on it.
A appetizer/treat (cookies/muffins/chips/veggies/fruit, etc.).  Please bring your snack in a sealed tupperware type container or ziplock bag so that clean up/freshness is made easy as possible.

We have many wonderful things planned to help us have a wonderful weekend.  (There will be a mini boot camp on Saturday morning for anyone interested as well - so bring work out clothes and runners if that's up your alley).    Please let us know if you have any questions/concerns or suggestions.    We're so thankful to our Relief Society Committee for all their planning and work that they are putting into organizing this wonderful event.  HOPE TO SEE AS MANY OF YOU THERE AS POSSIBLE.:)

Lesson for this Sunday - February 12, 2012 & Book Club Info....

Our lesson for this Sunday is from the George Albert Smith manual - Lesson #3 - Our Testimony of Jesus Christ.  Here is the link:   Hope that you will get a chance to read it.
http://www.lds.org/manual/teachings-george-albert-smith/chapter-3?lang=eng

Our lesson from this past Sunday was a continuation on our theme for 2012 - "Prepare Every Needful Thing."  We hope that each of you will take some personal time to ponder this theme (D&C 88:119) and seek inspiration from our Heavenly Father as to any area's that He would have you personally prepare in.  Elder Ardern said the following quote in the recent October 2011 Conference:
" With the demands made of us, we must learn to prioritize our choices to match our goals or risk being exposed to the winds of procrastination and being blown from one time-wasting activity to another.  We are well taught about priorities by the Master  Teacher when He declared in his Sermon on the Mount, “wherefore, seek not the things of this world but seek ye first to build up the kingdom of God, and to establish his righteousness”.   I testify that when help is prayerfully and sincerely sought, our Heavenly Father will help us to give emphasis to that which deserves our time above something else."
As a Relief Society Presidency, we hope to be able to provide opportunities to help support each of you in the different areas that you are seeking to prepare yourself in.

Book club will be held this week at Carley's house, on Thursday, February 09, 2012, at 8 p.m.  The book for this month is "The Hiding Place" - Corrie Ten Boom.  Everyone is welcome to attend - even if you didn't
read it....it's a great chance to get out and visit.
