RS Service Project - School Kits

Our ward Relief Society is starting to work on a new service project 'SCHOOL KITS'.

"They are given primarily to help refugee children, helping students and teachers add some normalcy to disrupted lives.  MCC sends school kits for children in places such as Bosnia, Haiti, Honduras, Iraq, Liberia, Nicaragua, North Korea, Russia, Serbia, and Ukraine and to poorly funded schools in Canada and The United States."

The following (NEW items only) are needed to fill the bag:
4 spiral or peforated notebooks (about 21.5 cm x 27 cm/8 in x 10.5 in; about 140-160 pages in Canada
4 unsharpened pencils
1 ruler
12 colored pencils
1 large pencil eraser

The school kits are distributed in a useful double drawstring cloth bag (28cm x 40.6cm/11x16in.)  You may sew bags yourself, or simply donate contents to be placed in the bags.   The instructions are located at the following link:   www.mcc.org/its/kitbags

If you have any questions about this project, please contact Sister Jeannie A.  We will be sewing bags at our Relief Society Super Saturday.  If you have any heavier fabric lying around that you would like to donate please let us know.  Also, right now is a great time to purchase inexpensive school supplies....or to keep the rest of us posted on any special deals on the above listed items so we can all help to donate.
